Over a century ago, by the curious mind of the first known photographer of snowflakes, Wilson Bentley, the art of nature was, for the first time, unveiled on the microscopic level in the permanence of photographs. Their shapes and patterns were of great diversity which is embodied in this creation – at times bearing semblance to the manmade art of tapestry, or a blossoming flower in the spring, or a mysteriously symmetrical labyrinth of nature, seemingly, when solved, leading to the secrets of the universe.

In Bentley’s 46-year adventure, over five thousand snowflakes were photographed, yet not two alike were ever found. It was as if every snowflake had a life of its own; as if they were proclaiming, with their beauty that promised to never occur again, that the ephemeral life they lived would, likewise, never be replicated, and therefore become eternal.

The Snowflake, mirroring the quality of eternity with the immortality of gemstones, conveys such uniqueness through the creation’s ability to rotate even when worn – as if, within snowflakes’ eternal cycle of steam, water, and ice, every step of the journey had been individually, thoughtfully planned out by the force of nature; as if each of them had been created and endowed with the same magnitude of creativity and individuality.

At the drop of a snowflake, a new life is born, and the life that receives it is reminded that, in the vastness of the universe, if nothing is ever truly the same in the microworld, all that we see, hear, and feel at every moment of our life are unique and deserve to be treasured as such.
